You are given a small, safe injection of a radiotracer (usually FDG)
After 45–60 minutes of rest, the scan is done while you lie still

These are fused using software to create a complete diagnostic view

Fast for 6–8 hours before the scan (water is allowed)
Avoid exercise or alcohol 24 hours before test
Diabetic patients must inform us in advance for glucose control
